Adelaide Strikers skipper Alex Carey made a brilliant catch after leading his side from the front with the bat, diving full force to the right during a Big Bash League (BBL) game at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday . Perth Scorchers were cruising in their running chase after scoring 53 runs from the first seven overs. However, Wes Agar struck twice in the eight over of the innings to give his match a glimmer of hope. He first sent the dangerous Jason Roy away for 49 runs on the second ball from the over and a ball later on, Carey’s superb catch behind stumps helped him off other opener Liam Livingstone, who fell cheaply for eight runs. Agar threw a short delivery close to Livingstone’s body. Surprised by the extra bounce, the batsman attempted to send the ball to the third man, but hit it too close to the wicket-keeper who reached out in the air before catching the ball in his web glove.

Defending a modest total, Agar wasn’t as thrifty as he would have liked, finishing his four-over spell with a 2/43 mark.
Before taking off the remarkable catch, Carey played a captain’s knock, hitting 82 of just 59 balls, while his squad finished 146/9 in their 20 overs.
While Carey was holding a crease on one side, no other batsmen could lend him any support on the other as Adelaide Strikers continued to lose wickets at regular intervals. Besides Carey, Matt Renshaw was Strikers’ second top scorer with 19 points.
Josh Inglis (44 * from 31 balls) and Mitchell Marsh (38 * from 34 balls) formed a solid partnership when Perth Scorchers beat Adelaide Strikers by seven wickets, with more than two left.
Jhye Richardson, who picked up three wickets for 19 runs from his four overs, was awarded the Player of the Match.
