Former Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews has recovered from an injury and was named to a squad of 22 players on Wednesday to face England in two Tests in Galle. But injured pair of batsman Dhananjaya de Silva and tempobowler Kasun Rajitha will miss the series that starts on Thursday after being part of South Africa’s 2-0 Test series defeat this month. Mathews, 33, has not made the trip to South Africa due to a hamstring injury, but he is expected to play in games against England in games that count towards the inaugural Test World Championship.
The Dimuth Karunaratne-led team will resume a series that was halted in March after England flew home over fears of the coronavirus.
Both games are played behind closed doors in Galle.
