Former Australian cricketer Brett Lee was on the scene when Jones died after performing CPR after learning the Victorian had collapsed in his room, News.com.au reported.
Lee recalled the day the former batsman died, saying it was “one of the most horrific moments I have ever experienced”.
“On that particular day, everything was normal. He was walking up and down the hall, I finished breakfast at 11:30 am and I heard him coming after me. I left and he said” thank you champ. “As he ran past me I think he’s 59 years old, fixed his knee and working hard on his fitness,” News.com.au quoted Lee.
“I went back to my room and got a call from the hotel staff about 10 minutes later saying,“ Mr. Jones passed out in his room. ”I immediately knew there was a problem. I sprinted to his room about 50 meters away and saw him passed out and then I started CPR on him for almost an hour. Unfortunately we lost him when he went to the hospital and it was one of the most horrifying moments I have ever experienced, “he added.
