Ahead of the third test against Australia, Team India held a full-fledged practice session on Tuesday with an eye on the lead in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The series of four matches between India and Australia is currently 1-1 and the inclusion of Rohit Sharma has further increased the confidence of the visitors. India’s Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) on Tuesday shared a glimpse of what to expect in Australia in the remaining two games. As spin spearhead Ravichandran Ashwin and wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant are heating up, previous match hero Mohammad Siraj hit the nets to prepare for the third Test.
“#TeamIndia is getting into the rhythm for the third #AUSvIND test in Sydney,” tweeted BCCI.
On Sunday, India’s training at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) was canceled due to rain.
Meanwhile, batsman KL Rahul has been banned from the remaining two Tests against Australia.
The decision was made after Rahul sprained his left wrist while hitting the nets at the Melbourne Cricket Ground during the team’s practice session on Saturday.
“The wicket-keeper-batsman will not be available for the remaining two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as he will need about three weeks to fully recover and regain strength,” the BCCI said in an official release on Tuesday.
Rahul is now returning to India and going to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for further rehabilitation from his injury.
The third Test will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground from January 7. Both the Indian and Australian line-ups moved to Sydney on Monday.
