Indian skipper Ajinkya Rahane on Wednesday praised Ravindra Jadeja’s contributions in the longest format, saying the all-rounder has really improved his hitter. Rahane’s comment came as India geared up to play against Australia in the third test of the four-game series at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), which starts on Thursday. Jadeja had missed the first test, but he came back for the second test and had an immediate impact. Jadeja scored 57 points with the bat and he also managed to pick three wickets.
“Jadeja has been really good, he is doing really well for us in Test cricket, especially with the bat. His bowling – we all know he can contribute,” Rahane said during a virtual press conference.
“As a batsman, Jadeja has improved a lot and that is a lot from the perspective of the team, when you know that you can contribute number seven with the bat you know that a good score can be achieved.
“You can also see him in the field, he has taken great catches and his addition to the team has helped us a lot,” he added.
During this week, there are reports that India is not in favor of playing the fourth Test in Brisbane due to more difficult quarantine protocols.
However, Rahane clarified that the party is not at all annoyed and that the BCCI will call.
Both the Indian and Australian teams moved to Sydney on Monday after every member of their respective contingent tested negative for COVID-19.
India had tied the four-game streak against Australia after taking an eight-wicket victory in the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
