India looked down and out after the humiliating loss in the opening test in Adelaide. With talisman captain and batter Virat Kohli also returning home on paternity leave, few gave India hope to impress in the rest of the three Tests. Following India’s capitulation in Adelaide, former England captain Michael Vaughan had tweeted that “India is going to be hammered into the Test Series” and predicted a 4-0 whitewash. Attaching to that tweet, former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer took to Twitter to troll the Englishman by posting a hilarious meme following the visitors’ memorable victory at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Tuesday.

India rebounded in style from the Adelaide debacle by beating the hosts all four days of the second Test to bring the four-match streak to 1-1.
Aside from the coin toss, everything in India went as the replacement captain Ajinkya Rahane put down an inspired performance.
Rahane was not only keen in his captaincy, but was also the star with the bat in hand. He scored a brilliant century in the first innings to give India a crucial 131-run lead.
Australia was just as bad in the second innings as it was in the first, with star hitter Steve Smith having a scorching time. The hosts could only get 200 with rookie Mohammed Siraj taking three wickets, adding to his 2 layoffs in the first.
Jasprit Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja also continued to bowl beautifully. India’s bowling performance was all the more impressive with fast bowler Umesh Yadav being sidelined for injury after only 3.3 overs in the second innings.
The third test is scheduled to be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) from January 7, but with the coronavirus rising in Sydney, MCG can also host the next match.
