BCCI Secretary Jay Shah appointed Chairman of the Asian Cricket Council

Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Jay Shah was appointed as chairman of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Saturday. BCCI Treasurer Arun Singh Dhumal shared the news on Twitter, writing: “Congratulations @JayShah on taking over the position of Chairman of the Asian Cricket Council. I am sure ACC will reach greater heights under your leadership and the cricket players of the The entire Asian region will benefit from this. My best wishes for a successful tenure. ”Nazmul Hussain, the Chief of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), was the previous ACC chief and now Jay Shah has taken over the role.

The ACC is Asia’s regional governing body and currently consists of 24 member associations.

With BCCI President Sourav Ganguly currently in hospital after undergoing a successful angioplasty, Jay has been working overtime to decide the fate of the domestic calendar in Indian cricket. And on Friday night, he informed state associations that after successfully hosting the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament, the BCCI is now hosting the Vinoo Mankad Trophy – U19 limited-overs tournament – along with Vijay Hazare and senior ladies one-dayers.

BCCI Secretary Jay, in his letter to the state associations to which ANI has access, informed them that the decision was made in view of the coronavirus pandemic and the feedback from state organs.

“The pandemic has put us all to the test and there is not a life left untouched, and while it has been difficult, your support has allowed us to resume both domestic and international cricket in the men’s category.

“As you know, we have lost a lot of time and therefore it has been difficult to plan the cricket calendar due to the precautions necessary for the safe running of the matches.

“However, it was extremely important for us to make sure that women’s cricket takes place and I am very happy to announce that we are going to run the Senior Women’s One-day tournament simultaneously with the Vijay Hazare Trophy and follow it up with Vinoo Mankad Trophy Under 19. This has been decided after receiving your feedback on the 2020-21 domestic season, ”he wrote.
