A 17-year-old Hindu girl allegedly raped a year earlier committed suicide in the Tharparkar district of Pakistan after she was reportedly blackmailed by the defendant who raped her and was released on bail.
The teenage girl took her own life in the early hours of Wednesday by jumping into a deep well in the village of Dalan-Jo-Tarr, near the town of Chelhar, Dawn reported

In addition to taking turns raping the girl, the defendant allegedly filmed the ordeal after taking her to a house.
According to the then Chief Superintendent of Police (SSP), Abdullah Ahmedyar, of Tharparkar, initial medical reports had confirmed that the girl had been sexually assaulted.
People from different walks of life, including rights activists Samtra Manjani, Bheem Raj and others, strongly condemned the incident and called for tough action against those who forced the teenager to take extreme steps.
