Boeing says all 777s are grounded to the same engine after the United Airlines fire

Paris, France:

About 128 Boeing 777 aircraft with the same Pratt & Whitney engine that failed on a flight from Denver have now been discontinued, a spokesman for the giant US aircraft manufacturer told AFP on Monday.

In a statement on Sunday, the company recommended leaving all affected aircraft on the ground as U.S. regulators investigated a United Airlines flight that was forced to return to Denver Airport after one of its engines caught fire and disintegrated .

In addition to United Airlines, the PW engine type was also used by the Japanese ANA and JAL groups as well as by the South Korean Asiana Airlines.
