Rio de Janeiro:

The Brazilian health authority announced on Monday that it had suspended clinical trials of a Covid-19 vaccine developed in China after an “adverse incident” with a volunteer recipient, a blow to one of the most advanced vaccine candidates.

The regulatory agency Anvisa said in a statement on October 29 that it had “decided to suspend the clinical trial of the CoronaVac vaccine following a serious adverse incident.”

It said it couldn’t give any details about what happened due to privacy regulations, but such incidents included death, potentially fatal side effects, severe disability, hospitalization, birth defects and other “clinically significant events”.
