Chris Gayle’s antics as self-proclaimed ‘Universe Boss’ were entertaining to his fans. Gayle, an Indian Premier League (IPL) heavyweight, is now in Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) juggling the ball at the edge of the border, as seen in a secretly recorded video from KXIP showing Gayle seemingly outside the rope lands while still in contact with the ball that is out of the frame. Plus, there’s no way to reply to their caption “People who think this is a six can comment on this tweet,” as the replies are limited to the only person tagged in the tweet – guess who?

In a show of athletics that defies his age, 40-year-old Gayle catches the ball, bumps over the rope but not before releasing the ball in the air, regains his balance, jumps back into the playing field and completes the catch.
The celebration after that is neatly captured, but it’s the legality of the catch that remains unpredictable after a clever bit of camerawork that may not work in a match.
Gayle has scored 4,484 runs in the IPL of 125 matches with a strike rate of 151.02 and holds the record for the highest individual score in the tournament – 175 * for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Pune Warriors in 2013.
Gayle was a mainstay at Royal Challengers Bangalore, where he entered into an opening partnership with his current captain at KXIP, KL Rahul, until the 2018 season when the franchise dropped him.
The IPL kicks off on September 19 and KXIP will play their first match against Delhi Capitals on September 20 in Dubai.
