Chennai Super Kings are out of the running for a playoff spot, but that hasn’t stopped them from being revelers for other teams. MS Dhoni’s team defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), leaving them out of the top of the table and gaining the upper hand from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Thursday, crushing their hopes of making it to the playoffs. The heroes of the day were Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravindra Jadeja. The latter ended the race in style with a brilliant unbeaten cameo, giving CSK their second trot victory.
Current Team India coach Ravi Shastri took to Twitter to greet the all-rounder, who has a fondness for horses.
“Great to see a free-running chakra. Rider excellent,” tweeted Shastri after CSK’s victory at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Nitish Rana’s sublime 87 of 61 balls helped KKR post a challenging 172 for five in their 20 overs. Ravindra Jadeja was the bowlers’ choice who took a wicket and gave away just 20 runs from three overs.
Shane Watson, who replaced Faf du Plessis, was again unable to shoot with the bat. But Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ambati Rayudu kept the ship stable, adding 68 runs for the second wicket to put CSK on course.
Varun Chakravarthy, however, lost Dhoni cheaply while Gaikwad fell on Pat Cummins a few overs later to put the cat among the pigeons. Jadeja ran the bat with the match in the scales, but turned the tide in CSK’s favor with some lusty blows.
The left-handed hit an unbeaten 31 of just 11 balls, including two sixes from the last two deliveries to get CSK over the line.
Despite the win, CSK was last dead, while KKR is fifth, but could drop to seventh if SunRisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals win their games in hand.
