After taking a 37-run victory against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) all-rounder Chris Morris praised skipper Virat Kohli for his 90-run match-winning streak. CSK failed to chase 170 and the squad was limited to 132/8, giving Virat Kohli-led RCB a victory by 37 runs. In the match between the two sides, RCB batted first, scoring 169/4 in the allotted 20 overs. Virat Kohli played an unbeaten knock of 90 to bring RCB’s total past 160 points. CSK bowlers eventually gave up 66 runs in the last four overs.
“Half way through our at bat I would be lying to you if I said we didn’t think we should continue, Virat played brilliantly, the wicket was two pace and tacky, it was test match length, you didn’t have to try too hard on this wicket At the end of the day the wickets will get slower, hopefully some bowlers will have better luck compared to the batsmen, ”Morris said at the post-game press conference.
“After 16 overs we thought something had to be done, there is a reason why Virat has the most runs in the IPL. He is an absolute genius, he did very well against such an experienced bowling lineup. He likes to lead from I love how he goes about his game, he’s a leader who likes to win and it helps the rest of the team, ”he added.
No CSK batsmen got underway and the team was left too much in the last 5 overs of the game. Ambati Rayudu scored with a top score of 42 points for CSK led by MS Dhoni.
For RCB, Morris took three wickets while Washington Sundar got two. This was Morris’s first game in RCB livery.
“I was really nervous, it’s been a while since I last played a game so I was really nervous. I had butterflies in my stomach, it was like making my testing debut again. Happy to go into the park,” anyway I can contribute. It’s a good feeling, “said Morris.
RCB is currently fourth in the IPL 2020 standings with eight points from six games. The team will then face the Dinesh Karthik-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Monday, October 12.
