Australian opener David Warner greeted his fans on New Years on Friday by impersonating Tamil superstar Rajinikanth. Using a face-swapping app, Warner swapped the superstar’s face with his and posted a funny video on Instagram. “Asked by many people Happy New Year #actor #film,” Warner wrote in the post. Warner, who plays for Indian Premier League franchise SunRisers Hyderabad, enjoys a large following in India, especially from southern states. Previously, Warner was added to the Australian squad for the remaining two Tests and assistant coach Andrew McDonald hinted on Thursday that the opening batsman could play even if he is not 100 percent fit.

The hitting was a concern for the Australian side in the longest form of the bout this summer. With batter Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith failing to live up to their potential, the hosts count on Warner for the remaining two Test games.

Warner is recovering from the groin strain he sustained during the ODI series against India, while Will Pucovski was sidelined after a concussion in the warm-up game in early December.

“That’s a very clear option that he may not be 100 percent fit. Who is going to end up injured? You won’t know until you go out. If he’s 90, 95 percent fit, and that conversation is he’s fit enough. In order to be able to perform his duties for the team, I’m sure this will be the conversation the coach has with the player, “ESPNcricinfo had quoted as McDonald.

“Usually Justin is quite open with the players and is accountable for that,” he added.

McDonald had said the Australian camp is very excited to have Warner back for the Test series. “He’s very optimistic that he should be ready to go, which is great news. We’re really excited to have him back. There’s nothing worse than getting injured when you’re at the top of your game, like David already has a while. ”McDonald had said.

Cricket Australia announced on Wednesday that the hosts will train in Melbourne on January 2 and 3 before moving to Sydney for the third game on January 4.
