David Warner, the captain of Hyderabad, says they would have been the first to roll had they won the coin toss. Is therefore happy with the result, on the coin toss. Indicates that the team has supported itself. Each individual knows their responsibilities well and supports themselves to the utmost. Says Wriddhiman is still not fit and the team is unchanged from the last game.
Delhi captain Shreyas Iyer says they’ve played twice against Hyderabad and they think it’s better to hit first and it looks good, so they will want to hit first. Declares that they have to do their homework well and hopes to play well in this game. Credits Rashid for the way he bowled and says he will be challenging today. TOSS – The two captains are in the middle for the all-important throw. The team that wins has to bowl first, but let’s see. The match referee gives the coin some air. It works out in Delhi’s favor. THEY WILL MEAT FIRST!
Pitch Report – Sunil Gavaskar presents the Pitch Report. There is a little bit of grass and a twist was visible recently. It’s a good pitch, there is something in it for the bowlers. The bowlers can arch their backs and bounce the odd ball. A very well-balanced pitch, neither to the advantage of the batsmen nor the bowlers.
Hyderabad was absolutely clinical in the last few games, including the Eliminator. Yes, they had to slog it through in the last, but never were they in a position where the game had slipped out of their hands. Their batting and bowling complement each other well and that is what one needs when playing in the decision stages. Can they rally their troops and overcome the challenge in Delhi? We’ll find out if the toss starts soon …
When they got to Delhi first, they got a hammer in all departments by Mumbai in Qualifier 1. To shake that off would be very difficult, but given the stage of the game they are in, Iyer’s men quickly overcome that. Their only focus now would be to beat Hyderabad and storm into the final. After that, they would pay a heavy price to Mumbai for its ongoing defeats this season.
Delhi or Hyderabad? Previously, it was Hyderabad or Bangalore in the Eliminator. But with the first going well towards the end and the other spot for Qualifier 2, against Delhi, closing, the first question now beckons us. While not formally an eliminator as the winner will advance to Mumbai in the final, both teams would watch this match as such.
