Hardik Pandya shared on social media on Tuesday that he had gifted a new car to his father as a surprise and recalled the time Pandya senior smiled “like a child getting his candy”. Hardik and fellow Indian cricketer Krunal Pandya’s father Himanshu Pandya passed away last month. “Knowing you’re not there makes me cry!” Hardik tweeted along with a video in which his father is caught smiling when he learns that the car he inspected in a showroom was given to him by his son.
Knowing you’re not there makes me cry! But when I see you smile like a kid who got his candy, I smile and think of you with such joy!

In the video, Himanshu Pandya sees a car in the showroom and one of Hardik’s friends asks if the brand new vehicle is suitable for the potential customer.
Even as Himanshu Pandya considered the specifications and seemed unsure about finalizing his choice, the friend made the news that the car had been given to Pandya senior by Hardik.
A visibly jubilant father then speaks to the son via video call. “I love you,” says the father.
Hardik is part of India’s test team for the upcoming four-game series against England.
The Indian players completed their quarantine on Monday and hit the ground at MA Chidambaram Stadium.
On Tuesday, BCCI posted photos on social media of head coach Ravi Shastri giving an “exciting address” to the players, followed by captain Virat Kohli addressing the team.
Kohli will return as captain in this series after a paternity leave he enjoyed during the Test series in Australia.
