IND vs ENG, 1st Test: Cheteshwar Pujara comes out in “unusual layoff” on Day 3. Watch

Cheteshwar Pujara lost his wicket in an unusual way on Day 3 of the ongoing first test between India and England on Sunday. In the 51st over, Pujara got a half-tracker from Dominic Bess and he rocked on his rear foot and played a pull shot. However, unfortunately for the Indian batter, the ball bounced off Ollie Pope, stationed on short legs, and flew straight into the hands of Rory Burns when Pujara had to make the long walk back to the pavilion.

Here’s the video of Pujara’s bizarre layoff:

The International Cricket Council (ICC) called the manner in which Pujara was fired as “unusual”.

On Day 3 of the first Test, India staggered for 73 for four at one point in response to England’s 578.

Pujara and Rishabh Pant sewed together a grandstand with 119 runs for the fifth wicket.

Pujara scored 73 points while Pant also scored half a century, but ended up missing a hundred with just nine points.

Bess removed both Pujara and Pant to dent India’s recovery.

Earlier in the day, England added 23 runs to their overnight score of 555 for eight before being eliminated in their first innings.

Jasprit Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin each picked up three wickets, while Ishant Sharma and Shahbaz Nadeem each picked up two scalps.
