English captain Joe Root took a one-handed blast to fire Indian batsman Ajinkya Rahane on Day 3 of the first test in Chennai. In response to England’s gigantic 578, India was in trouble during the second session of the day when they lost captain Virat Kohli and his deputy Rahane in quick succession. Rahane stepped out to get a delivery from off-spinner Dom Bess and drove brutally. Root, stationed on cover, jumped to the left and took a one-handed catch that thrilled the English players.

Root couldn’t go wrong in the test, having achieved an amazing 218 in his 100th test. He made the right bowling changes and field placements and topped it all off with a spectacular catch.
Rahane’s dismissal meant India was cut to 73 for 4.
After taking the remaining two English wickets on the third morning of the Test, India lost four of their best five hitters in two sessions.
Rohit Sharma moved after the goalkeeper, while Shubman Gill was also the victim of a great attempt in the field by an English player, this time James Anderson.
Gill hit a full ball from Archer to the halfway point, and Anderson jumped to the left and picked up a penny from the ground to knock India two down.
Promoted
Kohli was fired by Bess for 11 and when Rahane fell moments later, India was in all sorts of trouble.
The four-game test series has scheduled the second test in Chennai, followed by the last two in Ahmedabad.
