Indian skipper Virat Kohli took to Instagram on Friday to post a video on Instagram while working out in the hotel room. Kohli and other Indian players, who are part of the Test squad, are currently in quarantine for the Test series against England, which starts February 5. Kohli will be back in the lead after missing the last three Test matches against Australia as he had returned home for the birth of his first child. In the video, Kohli can be seen exercising on an indoor stationary bike, with a Punjabi song playing in the background – which he says are the two things you need to work out in quarantine.
“PropheC music and fitness equipment is all you need during quarantine days. You can work anywhere if you really want to. I wish everyone a great day,” Kohli’s caption to the video reads.
In addition to Kohli, other players have also started quarantining at the team hotel prior to the all-important Test series. Kohli’s red-ball deputy Ajinkya Rahane, who led India to a historic series win Down Under earlier this month, has also shared several posts on Instagram, giving fans a peek into his hotel’s quarantine.
Indian opener Rohit Sharma shared a photo with wife Ritika Sajdeh on his Instagram story on Thursday. The photo, clicked on the hotel room balcony, showed the couple sitting on the balcony with a scenic backdrop.
The Indian team has not lost a home series since 2012 and, incidentally, England were the last team to leave with a Test Series victory on Indian soil.
The upcoming four-Test series against England will also play a key role in determining whether India, currently at the top of the table, will make it to the final of the World Test Championship, which will be played on England’s iconic Lord’s cricket ground.
