After praising Nicholas Pooran’s antics on the Rajasthan Royals border, former Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar was quick to point out that no matter what, Jonty Rhodes will always remain the best fielder within the 30-yard circle. “Jonty, I was talking about borderline rescues. In your territory (30 yard circle) you were undoubtedly the best,” Sachin Tendulkar tweeted Monday. In the eighth over, Sanju Samson of Rajasthan Royals had played a pull shot on Murugan Ashwin and it was then that, deep in the middle of the wicket, Pooran dove completely over the rope to catch the ball.

He reached out to the maximum, then caught the ball with his left hand. And, a millisecond before falling to the ground, he put the ball back in play and Rajasthan had to settle for just two runs.

After this field attempt, many former and current players took to Twitter to name Pooran’s save as the best field attempt around the boundary lines.

Rhodes is currently the fielding coach of KXIP.

Rajasthan Royals chased a total of 224 to beat KXIP by four wickets on Sunday at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. For the Royals, Sanju Samson, Steve Smith and Rahul Tewatia all scored 50+ scores to give the squad a four-wicket victory. Tewatia came on as number four and he struggled at one point, scoring only 13 points from his first 19 balls.

However, in the 18th bowled over by Sheldon Cottrell, Tewatia hit five sixes to turn the side. The left-handed batsman played a hit of 53 when Rajasthan took an unlikely victory.

Sanju Samson had played 74 runs against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and he followed it with an 85 run knockout against Kings XI Punjab. Skipper Smith also recorded an innings of 50 against Punjab.

Promoted

Mayank Agarwal had scored a ton for KXIP and this was his first hundred in the IPL. Right-handed Mayank played a 106-run 50 ball knock using 10 fours and 7 sixes to bring the squad’s total to 223/2.

Rajasthan has now won their first two matches in the current edition of the IPL. The squad will then face Kolkata Knight Riders on September 30, while Kings XI Punjab will face Mumbai Indians on October 1.
