MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) roared back into form with an emphatic 10-wicket win over Kings XI Punjab on Sunday in Dubai. CSK had lost three times in a row to this victory and was languishing at the bottom of the table. However, with this win, they not only climbed to sixth place, but in a wave of congratulations popular on social media, they also crossed six million followers on Twitter. The team celebrated this milestone and CSK posted on social media photos and videos of their players indicating ‘six’ with their fingers to mark the number of followers.
After a win in their opening game against Mumbai Indians last month, CSK dropped to three consecutive defeats, a first time the team lost as many consecutive games since 2014, but dominated on the back of Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis’ unbeaten half centuries. they were Kings XI and won by more than two overs.
Both Watson and du Plessis gave up 53 balls each, scoring 83 and 87 respectively when CSK drove to their 179 goal in just 17.4 overs.
Previously, CSK provided much improved bowling performance, even in the face of a strong KXIP opening pair KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal.
Shardul Thakur returned 2/39 in four overs while Ravindra Jadeja was thrifty with 1/30 of four.
CSK will then take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Abu Dhabi on October 7.
