Indian Premier League 2020: “No team wants to compete with us,” says Mumbai Indians bowling coach Shane Bond

Defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) have maintained their dominance in the sustained Indian Premier League (IPL) after finishing the group stage as the table toppers. The Rohit Sharma-led side has delivered sparkling performances with both bat and ball. Bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult are both in the list of top five wicket-takers in the ongoing IPL. In addition, Quinton de Kock, Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav have all scored over 400 runs for Mumbai Indians in the ongoing IPL.

However, the team had to taste defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Tuesday. Kieron Pollard hit 41 runs from 25 balls while Mumbai posted a respectable total. Bowling coach Shane Bond thinks Pollard hitting is one of the positives they can get out of the game.

He also said MI is so strong that no other team wants to play against them

“You don’t want to see your tailors hit and our best order is to score some big runs. I think the bonus from a batting point of view is that Kieron Pollard had to face 20 balls and hit them,” Bond said in a virtual press conference.

“So it gives him great shape for the final. I think our batting line-up is as good as any other team in the tournament.

“Our bowling lineup is also as good as everyone else in the tournament and I think we are the team that no one really wants to play because they know we play well and can do some damage. We’ve won tight games and that. makes a huge difference, ”he added.

SRH defeated Mumbai Indians by 10 wickets. With this victory, SRH qualified for the play-offs and the team finished third in the points table with 14 points.

MI was unable to get through when SRH chased the target with 17 balls left.

“Obviously we weren’t playing well, but it was one of those days we knew we qualified, so the game didn’t affect our tournament in any way,” said Bond.

“I think everyone is excited about what awaits us with a challenge against Delhi Capitals and we look forward to it.”

Bond also explained the reason behind Boult and Bumrah resting for the final league game.

“You have to give credit to SRH that they were clearly ready for a game that you have to win. They played beautifully, but you have to think about the long run,” he said.

“We had a very busy schedule and with back-to-back games and so much travel, we thought about giving Boult and Bumrah some rest.

“And I think both of our boys enjoyed the half-time and we now have our bowling team and everyone has played a game, so it puts us in a really good position,” he added.

MI will play against Delhi Capitals in Qualifier 1 on Thursday.
