Mumbai Indians (MI) will face Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Monday in Match 10 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 and two of the best white ball players in the world in Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah will compete in the match . Kohli will likely hit in the top three and Bumrah will be used by MI captain Rohit Sharma with the new ball as well as on death. Kohli has yet to shoot in the tournament, having racked up scores of 14 and 1 so far, while Bumrah has already made an impact by returning 2/32 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) after an indifferent start to the season against Chennai Super Kings when it finished 1/43.
Kohli hit number 3 in his first appearance against SunRisers Hyderabad, but promoted wicket-keeper-batsman Josh Philippe to that position against Kings XI Punjab. However, he will likely stick to his usual first down position against a strong MI bowling lineup.
Bumrah was instrumental in MI’s success against KKR in their last game when he dismissed two key hitters – the big-hitters Eoin Morgan and Andre Russell – in one sitting to close the game.
However, if there’s one batsman most equipped to wipe out the Bumrah threat in that RCB lineup, it’s Skipper Kohli.
The India captain has a lot of experience putting Bumrah in the nets when the two cricketers play for India and would count on that experience to negotiate the nip of the field that Bumrah usually gets with the new ball, as well as the well-disguised slower balls and pin-point yorkers.
Bumrah fired Kohli in IPL 2019 when the teams met at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, home of RCB, which is why the pacer enjoys the bragging rights.
