SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) got off to a disappointing start to their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 campaign, losing both matches so far. In both games, it was their middle position that left much to be desired after captain David Warner and his opening partner Jonny Bairstow were fired. No. 4, 5, 6 and 7 reached 12, 0, 7 and 6 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and failed to accelerate to death in their second match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). However, Warner explained that the players have been working on their skills in the nets, but implementation on the field is lacking. SRH posted a video on social media with the caption “Captain’s Corner” in which Warner gave a glimpse into the team’s pre-game training sessions.

“Today’s plan is to have the middle order hit first here against some older balls. Then the highest order comes in here, facing some of the new balls, and trying to execute as many as possible, ”said Warner.
Bairstow, Kane Williamson, Abhishek Sharma and Priyam Garg were seen hitting the nets, followed by bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed and Siddarth Kaul.
The bowlers were bowling death skittles. Practice target. Few changes. Just try to work on our skills, ”said Warner.
The skipper himself practiced death-overs hitting, indicating that he could be the one to anchor and hit through the innings.
“(For) 20 minutes I tried to execute as best I could for the death overs,” he said.
“The point is that we work on our skills. Practice it here during practice, and we don’t deliver in the game here and there.
“We know we’ve done the practice and hope the guys will do that in the game and in the middle against the guys hitting,” he explained.
SRH will play against Delhi Capitals in their third IPL 2020 match in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.
Delhi is undefeated in the tournament so far, beating Kings XI Punjab in a Super Over in their first match and Chennai Super Kings by 44 runs in the second.
