CSK vs SRH, IPL 2020: Faf du Plessis will take on the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar on Friday.© BCCI / IPL
While Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have struggled to find their position in IPL 2020, SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) aren’t much better off either. Both have won one match each and while CSK is last on the table, SRH is only one step up, that too by run rate. If there has been one man on both sides who has been stable, it is South African opener Faf du Plessis. Without him, CSK could potentially be in an even worse situation in terms of run rate. On the other hand, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, SRH’s pace spearhead expected to lead the franchise bowling, was inconsistent but seemed to find his rhythm during his squad’s win over Delhi Capitals.
Du Plessis has played all three games for CSK so far, with 173 runs in his pot with a strike rate of 149.13. In total, the South African has played 74 IPL matches to accumulate 2,026 runs with 14 half centuries, with a success rate of 128.39.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar also played in all three SRH matches and went without a wicket in the first two matches before coming in well with a 2/25 win against Delhi Capitals.
In general, Bhuvneshwar was in the middle of things. He has played 120 matches in IPL so far, with 135 wickets to his name at an economic rate of 7.24.
Since both sides need reassurance and victories, the key players will be vital. A showdown between Du Plessis and Bhuvneshwar could thus set the tone of the match.
