Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 37 runs at the Dubai International Stadium in match 25 of the Indian Premier League on Saturday. It was the Virat Kohli show in Dubai when the RCB skipper played a 90 match-winning knockout, not out against CSK. Bowlers supported the captain’s efforts by hitting the right line and lengths and making it difficult for CSK batsmen to make the big shots. Aside from Ambati Rayudu, who struggled his way to a 40-ball 42, none of the CSK batsmen got to work when the MS Dhoni-led squad fell 37 points short of the 170-point goal. Chris Morris was the bowlers’ choice for RCB, finishing with marks of three for 19 from his four overs.

On the hunt for 170 for the win, CSK got off to a bad start when they lost to Faf du Plessis in form in the fourth over with just 19 points on the board. Washington Sundar was in charge of the South African batsman.

Shane Watson also failed to find the center of his bat when he was cleared by Sundar after scoring 14 runs from 18 deliveries.

Narayan Jagadeesan, on his IPL debut, looked good during his stay in the middle, before being exhausted from a direct hit by Chris Morris. He scored 33 from 28 deliveries.

MS Dhoni hit a six off Yuzvendra Chahal, but the leg spinner got the former India captain with a full delivery he threw wide off the stumps and the CSK skipper hit it straight to Gurkeerat Singh in long-off.

Rayudu was subsequently reversed by a slower delivery of Isuru Udana.

Chris Morris, who played his first game this season, took three wickets and kept the CSK lower middle order from getting boundary balls.

Virat Kohli previously won the toss and chose to hit. RCB lost to Aaron Finch cheaply, but their skipper hit his 38th IPL half century along with cameos from Washington Sundar and Shivan Dube.

Promoted

Kohli reached four limits, reaching four maximums on the way to his 38th IPL half century.

With the win, RCB moves to fourth place on the points table, while CSK remains sixth after their fifth defeat in this year’s IPL.
