The bowling attack in Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has left much to be desired and veteran Piyush Chawla was called up after the first game to join the leg spin department. Now that the CSK bowling is not quite up to the challenge, Chawla’s experience can be an important factor. For SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), the battle was under the microscope, so it was inevitable that Kane Williamson would see action once he got fit. He did so against Delhi Capitals and was a significant contributor to SRH’s victory.
Chawla started well against Mumbai Indians but got hammered by Rajasthan Royals, but so did everyone else. He returned with better grades against Delhi Capitals, but in a losing case. Chawla has four wickets from three matches in IPL 2020, while playing a total of 160 matches to claim 154 wickets against an economy of 7.84.
Williamson scored a polished 41 against Delhi Capitals in a winning case. He brings peace to the SRH middle order with his fearless approach.
In total, Williamson has played 42 games to score 1,343 runs with a strike rate of 135.65.
The two veterans are likely to be crucial to their team’s fortunes. Their face-off will not only affect the CSK-SRH match, but the tournament as a whole.
