Skipper MS Dhoni from Chennai Super Kings (CSK) admitted that his team had to do many things right as he had been guilty of repeating the same mistakes again. CSK suffered their third straight four-game loss on Friday, after losing seven points to SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 14th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The Chennai-based franchise remains at the bottom of the points table after this result. SRH, on the other hand, recorded their second straight win in IPL 2020, climbing to fourth place.
“We have to do a lot of things right. It’s the professionalism – dropping catches, no-balls bowling. We’re making the same mistakes again. After 16th we had two bad overs. Overall, we could have been a little bit better, Dhoni said in the post-game presentation.
SRH skipper David Warner criticized the wicket, but praised his players.
“This wicket was a bit bad compared to the last one we played here. You don’t really get that length to pull. It was nice to see our boys back again,” he said.
Warner won the coin toss and chose to hit. The Hyderabad franchise recorded a total of 164/5 in 20 overs, after a first half century in the IPL by the younger Priyam Garg (51 *), who enjoyed quality support from all-rounder Abhishek Sharma (31).
Garg and Abhishek performed after cheap layoffs for the likes of Kane Williamson and Manish Pandey, making their presence felt.
The SRH bowlers put in a disciplined performance at regular intervals for wickets, clearing and dusting the game despite some backlash from Ravindra Jadeja (50) and Dhoni (47 *).
