DC vs CSK: Shreyas Iyer’s contributions with the bat for Delhi Capitals have had a huge impact.© BCCI / IPL
Shreyas Iyer has proven to be one of the most prolific captains of IPL 2020 and his contributions with the bat for Delhi Capitals have had a tremendous impact. He will have to be on top of his skills on Saturday as the wear marks on all three centers make hitting more and more difficult, especially in the second inning. This is where Chennai Super Kings leggie Karn Sharma might have something to say, making it difficult for Iyer and the rest of the DC batting. CSK has been on the receiving end for most of IPL 2020, but with a win in the last game, where Sharma was effective, they will be contenders.
Sharma wasn’t in the original CSK bowling plans, but got through and then became a regular with his consistent show.
He has four wickets from three matches and an 8.00 round economy. None of this looks very impressive, but as the spinners emerge in all teams, Sharma will also be a force to be reckoned with.
As for Iyer, he led from the front. With 298 runs from eight games, the DC skipper would like bigger numbers. He hit at 135.45, so no complaints there.
Iyer has led Delhi Capitals to six wins from eight games and will hope to get more points on board and cement their position at the top half of the table. Karn Sharma and Chennai Super Kings will have different thoughts on that.
