IPL 2020, DC vs RR: Rahul Tewatia has scored 189 runs from seven matches in IPL 2020© BCCI / IPL
Rahul Tewatia was almost in the middle of a fray with Khaleel Ahmed of SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) when the two sides last met, and even SRH skipper David Warner became involved in the scrap metal. However, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) batsman never held his head and kept his cool enough to remain unbeaten at the end and, along with Riyan Parag, took a win when RR looked like he was down and almost out. The left-handed has done it before too, and while that was considered a one-off, he’s back. So when Delhi Capitals (DC) comes up against RR on Wednesday in Dubai, veteran bowler Ravichandran Ashwin could well be the person made responsible for handling Tewatia, a showdown that could be telling.
Tewatia has no fear. He even took on the almost unplayable Rashid Khan and played a few reverse shots on the Afghan, which cost him his most expensive in IPL 2020.
The left-handed scored 189 runs from seven games in IPL 2020 with a strike rate of 152.41. He has no fewer than 15 sixes to his name.
Ashwin, who was out early with a shoulder injury, has effectively returned. Although he only has six wickets from five matches, he is far too experienced to be taken lightly, by Tewatia or anyone else.
