SRH vs RCB: Virat Kohli vs Rashid Khan promises to be a delicious match.© BCCI / IPL
Virat Kohli may not have had the best IPL 2020 per se, but his presence or contribution to the cause of Royal Challengers Bangalore is undeniable. With the team embroiled in the indispensable eliminator against SunRisers Hyderabad, Kohli is hoping for some solid runs at the top of the rankings. Likewise, ace leg spinner Rashid Khan is said to have hurt his pride after conceding the highest number of runs in any period in IPL 2020 against Mumbai Indians in SRH’s final match. While his side won at a gallop, the Afghan takes these setbacks to heart and will shoot again.
Virat Kohli’s total runs are on the verge of hitting his 2019 record, but this time his team is in a much better position. At the same time, his average this year is much better than the last, but his success rate is much lower, although the latter can be attributed to pitches just starting to give up. In total, 460 runs are par for Kohli in 14 games, but the strike rate of 122.01 is not.
Rashid was virtually unplayable in the league stages, but as shown twice – by Rajasthan Royals ‘Rahul Tewatia and then Mumbai Indians’ duo Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan – he can still be scored, provided the batsmen are a bit brave.
But 1/32 of four overs won’t do well with the leg spinner, who has claimed 19 wickets from 14 matches with a best of 3/7 and an economy of 5.28.
So he will be thrilled and excited to go, just like Kohli. That promises a big showdown between the two.
