Prithvi Shaw, the small pack of dynamite at the top of Delhi Capitals’ batting order, has been at work by his side from the start of IPL 2020. While the youngster tends to give it all away after settling down, he seems to be contributing more often than not, and is key to DC’s wins in the last two games. On the other side of the coin, Jofra Archer is the best bowler in the Rajasthan Royals fold, but that’s a double-edged compliment as the others are downright ordinary. So Archer is left with the unenviable task of restraining Shaw and the rest of the DC batsmen on the small Sharjah property. Shaw is a compulsive short ball hooker, which is Archer’s strength. So this is going to be one to watch.
Archer has been quick and his economy (7.10) is good, but he is not making as many breakthroughs as needed. Add that to RR’s bad at bat late, and it’s a sure recipe for disaster. Archer has picked up five wickets in five matches so far.
Shaw played five games, scoring 179 with a strike rate of 147.93. He’s scored two half centuries.
The numbers are definitely in favor of the Delhi Capitals batsman, but as we’ve seen in every sport, the numbers are all left out of the playing field. Archer has what it takes to run through every side, so don’t discount him just yet.
