Indian Premier League, Face-Off, SRH vs KXIP: Rashid Khan vs KL Rahul

When you think of SunRisers bowling in Hyderabad, Rashid Khan is the name that immediately comes to mind simply because he is expected to live up to his reputation as the best in the business. The Afghan leg spinner has been a super hit in franchise-based cricket all over the world, and also as a member of Afghanistan’s national team. So when he takes on Kings XI Punjab captain KL Rahul in Dubai on Thursday, it will be a match between the best. The only thing is that the best of Rahul is reflected in the IPL batting list, while Rashid still has to be on the top of the wicket-takers. But he will get there.

The biggest problem for Rashid getting hold of wickets is that few teams take too many chances against him. Even in the final match with Mumbai Indians, where the rivals scored more than 200 runs, Rashid had figures of 1/22 on four overs.

The match before, against Chennai Super Kings, he had 0/12 out of four.

Rashid has played five matches in IPL 2020, for five wickets at a significant economic rate of 5.20. In total, the Afghan has played 51 games and claimed 60 wickets against an economy of 6.42.

Rahul has been topping the Purple Cap list for quite some time, thanks to its consistency. The KXIP skipper, with dual duties as opening bat and wicket-keeper, would be truly frustrated with the way the rest of the team fared.

Rahul has 302 runs from five games, 132 of which is not his highest (also the highest of all Indians in IPL) with a strike rate of 141.78 and an average of over 75. You really can’t ask for more.

In total, Rahil has played 72 games for 2,279 runs with a success rate of 138.62, with two centuries and 18 fifties.

So this is certainly a showdown between the best. Can make for a fascinating duel.
