Rohit Sharma scored a fluid half-century that helped Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Capitals by five wickets in the Indian Premier League final on Tuesday to take their fifth title. After 157 points for the title, Mumbai was in control with Rohit and Suryakumar Yadav in the middle. In the 11th over, a confusion between the duo resulted in losing his wicket. Rohit showed up for a single, but Suryakumar was not interested and tried to send his skipper back, but it was too late. Rather than display his frustration, Suryakumar selflessly sacrificed his wicket and walked back to the pavilion. He scored 19 points on 20 deliveries.

Following the incident, fans on Twitter named Suryakumar as the perfect team man for sacrificing his wicket for his captain.

After the match, Suryakumar was asked about the mix-up in the middle with Rohit Sharma and the MI batsman said he doesn’t mind sacrificing his wicket for his captain.

“Rohit was hitting really well at the time. Most importantly, he’s anchored the innings a lot since the first game. I don’t mind sacrificing my wicket for him,” said Suryakumar in the post-game interview .

Mumbai Indians rode to a five-wicket victory in Dubai to take their record-breaking fifth IPL title.


In the chase, Rohit Sharma scored half a century, while Quinton de Kock, Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar also made notable contributions.

The next best team in the tournament is Chennai Super Kings, who have won three IPL titles.
