At the moment, the hardest job in IPL 2020 would be that of Kings XI Punjab skipper KL Rahul. He’s had a reverse once in a Super Over, a euphoric win and then another loss, from a position where he could very well be excused for thinking his side has won. Each of the losses has been nerve-wracking in some way and it’s a good thing KL Rahul is a cool client and at least looks calm at first glance. Mumbai skippered Rohit Sharma was also in an awkward position, with two defeats from three games, including a Super Over defeat after looking good to take an incredible win. So when the two sides meet in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, at least one team will score two points and both captains hope the margin is enough to put them at ease.
It would be a close-up of who will be more shocked after the last loss. KL Rahul’s bowling attack defended nearly 90 runs in the last five overs and failed, while MI, with Ishan Kishan having great guns, looked like the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s total was revised before the match was tied and then turned into a bad show handed out in the Super Over.
While the wins were comfortable, the losses are quite deadly, so both skippers will have a tough question to motivate their troops. While all players are professionals, it still must be crushing to lose from a potentially winning position.
But the action continues and the good thing about the IPL is that the matches come out so thick and fast that you don’t have much time to delve into past failures. So it would be a brand new match for both sides and they hope for an exciting match.
