MI vs KKR: Suryakumar Yadav has scored 233 runs from 7 matches, including 2 half centuries.© BCCI / IPL
Suryakumar Yadav is quite a mystery to Mumbai Indians. For a batsman who finds himself in the playing XI of one of the most batsman-heavy teams in IPL history, Yadav has the lowest profile, quite happy with the glitz and glamor the superstars have as he gets on with his job. Varun Chakravarthy holds a similar position in Kolkata Knight Riders, although the team isn’t half as glitzy as MI.
Yadav has been in action at IPL 2020. With 233 runs from seven games, including two half centuries and a top score of 79 not-out, Yadav scored with a strike rate of 155.33, more than 20 more than his IPL strike -rate in his career.
In IPL history, the Mumbai batsman has played 92 games for 1,781 runs with a strike rate of 134.61.
Varun Chakravarthy has been equally consistent for KKR. The ‘mystery’ spinner has claimed five wickets in six matches, but they were all important wickets in critical stages. Its economy is 7.45.
Chakravarthy gets his job against Yadav and the terrifying Mumbai Indians who go to work. But if Kolkata Knight Riders have any desire to bolster their knockout podium position, they will have to win the big games and none come bigger than this.
