IPL 2002, RCB vs MI: Ravi Shastri Describes Washington Sundar’s Bowling Spell as “Best IPL Achievement to Date”

Ravi Shastri, the head coach of the Indian cricket team, has said that Washington Sundar’s performance for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) against Mumbai Indians is the best so far in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. His comment came when RCB Mumbai defeated Indians in the Super Over on Monday at the Dubai International Stadium.

In the Super Over, Mumbai Indians managed to score only seven points, while Saini threw a brilliant over and Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers chased him down with ease. In normal match action, both Mumbai and Bangalore posted 201 runs on the board.

For RCB, Sundar got just 12 runs in his quota of four overs and he also picked up Rohit Sharma’s crucial wicket.

Taking note of Sundar’s performance, Shastri tweeted, “In a batsman’s world – from Chennai to Washington. Best IPL to date in 2020. Special.”

Previously, de Villiers played an unbeaten knock of 55 runs to just 24 balls using 4 fours and 4 sixes to bring RCB’s score to 201/3 in the allotted twenty overs.

In the 202 chase, Mumbai was on 78/4, but at that point, Ishan Kishan and Kieron Pollard came together in the middle and sewed a 119-point grandstand to get their side close to the goal.

Ishan Kishan played a knock of 99, scattered with two fours and nine sixes. On the other hand, Pollard registered an unbeaten inning of 60 of just 24 balls using three fours and five sixes.

For RCB, pacemaker Navdeep Saini finished with numbers 0/43 in his four overs. The pacemaker also bowled the Super Over, in which he gave up only seven runs, even though Pollard and Hardik Pandya were in the middle.

RCB has played three games in the tournament so far and won two. The Virat Kohli-led squad will face Rajasthan Royals on October 3.
