IPL 2002, RR vs KXIP: Sachin Tendulkar surprised that KXIP does not use Murugan Ashwin enough against RR

Former India batsman Sachin Tendulkar said he was surprised that Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) didn’t use Murugan Ashwin enough in the match against Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL). His comment came when Rajasthan Royals chased a total of 224 on Sunday to beat KXIP by four wickets at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Ashwin bowling just 1.3 overs and gave up 16 runs. He was also chosen to throw the latter over, but Rajasthan only needed two runs to win the match.

In the final, Ashwin sent Riyan Parag away, but Tom Curran and Jofra Archer secured the Rajasthan Royals victory by four wickets with three balls left.

“Great batting by @rajasthanroyals’ batsmen Smith, Sanju & Tewatia to chase this mega total. They kept their cool and accelerated beautifully. Amazed how the @lionsdenkxi fast bowlers didn’t bowl a lot of yorkers and also didn’t use M Ashwin enough. # RRvKXIP # IPL2020, “tweeted Tendulkar.

For Rajasthan Royals, Sanju Samson, Steve Smith and Rahul Tewatia all scored half centuries to give the squad a four-wicket victory. Tewatia came on as number four and he struggled at one point as he had only scored 8 points from his first 19 balls.

However, bowled over in the 18th by Sheldon Cottrell, Tewatia hit five sixes to turn the tide. The left-handed batsman played a hit of 53 when Rajasthan took an unlikely victory.

Sanju Samson had scored 74 points against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and he followed it up with an 85 point knockout against Kings XI Punjab.

For KXIP, Mayank Agarwal had scored his first IPL 100 when Punjab posted a massive total after being put in the bat by Rajasthan. Mayank scored 106 runs from 50 balls using 10 fours and 7 sixes to bring the squad’s total to 223/2.

Mayank and KL Rahul scored 183 runs for the first wicket and the duo created the record for the highest opening partnership for KXIP in the IPL. This stand between the two batsmen is also the second highest opening partnership in the IPL.

Rajasthan has now won their first two matches in the current edition of the IPL. The squad will face Kolkata Knight Riders on September 30, while Kings XI Punjab will face Mumbai Indians on October 1.
