IPL 2020, Delhi Capitals vs SunRisers Hyderabad Preview: Table-Toppers DC Trying to Add to the Bottom Tier of SRH’s Woes

The Indian Premier League, or any league for that matter, invariably puts up a battle between two sides that are at the furthest points of the spectrum. Delhi Capitals have started IPL 2020 with a bang, and admittedly good luck, sitting at the top of the table with two of the two wins, while SunRisers Hyderabad are still finding their feet and dragging the bottom with nothing to show from two games. While it is still early days in the IPL, which will continue for a long time, SRH will take quite a bit of work to get off the bottom, with skipper David Warner really needing a lot from himself and his team, in all departments. On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer has benefited from a good performance by his players, an indifferent opposition and a downright malfunctioning performance.

Be that as it may, the points count isn’t an emotional creature – it just shows the numbers and Delhi, with two wins and a better run-rate than Rajasthan Royals, is on top, while Hyderabad can’t go any lower.

Delhi’s victories were different. They were very lucky to win a possible losing position against Kings XI Punjab in a much-discussed match that went to Super Over.

The next was a bit of a walk in the park as Chennai Super Kings looked very ordinary.

The Delhi hitter has performed but not devastated, with Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant crafting decent punches and Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan and Marcus Stoinis chipping.

The bowling has become almost sensational, with Kagiso Rabada running the show, with great help from South African countryman Anrich Nortje in the pace department and veteran Amit Mishra and Axar Patel coming on well, especially after Ravichandran Ashwin himself injured in the opening game.

SRH had something to offer Jonny Bairstow and Manish Pandey with the bat, but the whole package, including bowling aces Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rashid Khan, looked a bit down.

It is still early days, so it is hoped that SRH will improve on all fronts. But as things stand, momentum certainly seems to be at Delhi Capitals.

Nothing changes fate in cricket quite like a win, and SunRisers Hyderabad is sure to hit points on Tuesday in Abu Dhabi. But they will get their job done and make Delhi happy.
