Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming has confirmed star all-rounder Dwayne Bravo will miss a few more games in IPL 2020. Despite missing the seasoned West Indian, who is recovering from injury, three-time winners CSK started their campaign on a On a positive note, beating arch-rivals and defending champions Mumbai Indians by five wickets in Abu Dhabi on Saturday. “Dwayne Bravo is out for a few games,” Fleming said at the post-game press conference. Bravo took a downside during the recently concluded Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and did not make it to the final due to a knee injury.
In place of Dwayne Bravo, English all-rounder Sam Curran hit 18 balls from six balls to help CSK cross the line after the brilliant partnership of Ambati Rayudu and Faf du Plessis.
In his quota of four overs, Sam Curran returned with impressive 1/28 figures as he picked up the wicket from the dangerous Quinton de Kock, then played a cameo with the bat.
“Curran’s performance was great,” said Fleming.
The head coach also praised Ambati Rayudu, who played a match-winning knock, made a 48-ball 71 and along with du Plessis, who scored an unbeaten 58, helped Chennai chase a 163 target with four balls left.
“Rayudu was nothing short of fantastic. He was quite emotional and played a great knock,” said Fleming.
The former New Zealand captain further added that the field was “difficult” to score on and that the team is looking for ways to strike the right balance.
