SunRisers Hyderabad marched to an impressive 10-wicket win against the Mumbai Indians who played table toppers to finish third in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 points table and qualify for the playoffs. SRH’s win means Kolkata Knight Riders, who were in fourth place before the competition, finished fifth and will be eliminated from the tournament. Mumbai Indians top the list, while Delhi Capitals secures the second spot. Royal Challengers Bangalore is the other team to reach the knockout stage.
MI and DC will face each other in the first qualifying game on Thursday, while SRH and RCB will face each other in the eliminator on Friday. The winner of the eliminator plays the loser of the first qualifier in the second qualifier.
The group stage of IPL 2020 ends with KL Rahul leading the Orange Cap race, with no less than 670 runs. But David Warner hit an unbeaten 85 and moved up to second spot on the run charts.
He is followed by Shikhar Dhawan in third place and the RCB duo of Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli in fourth and fifth place.
Kagiso Rabada tops the list of wicket-takers at the end of the group stage with 25 scalps, while Jasprit Bumrah rested against SRH and was unable to contribute to his total of 23 wickets.
Yuzvendra Chahal and Trent Boult, each with 20 wickets, and Rashid Khan and Anrich Nortje, who each have 19 scalps, also have a chance to take home the Purple Cap by increasing their knockout count.
