IPL 2020, RR vs DC: Marcus Stoinis, Kagiso Rabada Power Delhi Capitals to big win over Rajasthan Royals

Delhi Capitals (DC) took to another win in the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL) on Friday, beating Rajasthan Royals by 46 runs at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Marcus Stoinis once again starred for the Shreyas Iyer-led squad, contributing with both bat and ball. The Australian hit 39 runs from 30 deliveries and also grabbed two wickets. Kagiso Rabada closed the match for his match when he ended the match with a three-wicket swipe. The win helped DC put together a hat-trick of wins, having ridden past Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their previous two races.

RR captain Steve Smith initially won the coin toss and chose the field.

Delhi had an unstable start, with openers Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan failing to find their way past the opposition bowlers.

The arrival of Shreyas Iyer stabilized the innings for DC. He scored 22 points from 18 balls.

Rishabh Pant was unable to build on his new form and hit only five points on the scoreboard.

Stoinis was once again the hero for his team, scoring 39 points, full of four sixes. West Indian batsman Shimron Hetmyer made his presence felt, scoring 45 runs on just 24 deliveries. He also hit a four and five sixes, which helped his she post a strong target of 185 points. DC wrapped up on 184/8 after 20 overs.

Jofra Archer was the bowlers’ choice for RR and took three wickets.

The Royals took a cautious start, but continued to lose wickets at regular intervals.

Yashasvi Jaiswal showed his talent with a slow knock of 34 runs from 36 balls. He could collect a four and two sixes.

Jaiswal’s opening partner Jos Buttler couldn’t find his footing and was fired after only eight deliveries.

Smith tried to anchor the chase in front of his side, but managed only 24 runs from 17 balls.

Sanju Samson again lost his wicket cheaply, scoring only five points.

Rahul Tewatia’s arrival was a little late as RR crashed into another defeat. Tewatia scored 38 from 29 balls.

RR was won for 138 in 19.4 overs. Kagiso Rabada was again impressive and took three wickets.

The win has brought DC to the top of the rankings, while RR is seventh.
