Ishant Sharma “Grateful and Honored” to receive Arjuna Award


After receiving the Arjuna Award on the occasion of National Sports Day, Indian pacemaker Ishant Sharma said on Saturday that he will continue to bring laurels to the country “until his body allows it.” On Twitter he wrote: “Very grateful and honored to receive the #ArjunaAward! Congratulations to fellow winners for the same! Thank you for the constant support and love from all of you!” Ishant is considered the vital gear of the Bowling Line-up Indian Test. The speedster has had a lot of contact in the recent longest format series.

“I realized my passion for cricket at a very young age and since then I have been striving to put in my 100 percent effort day in and day out. Every step I took to improve my game was aimed at taking India’s name to a higher level. ”Ishant said in a statement on Twitter.

“Until my body allows it, I’ll keep doing it, and after that by God’s grace.”

The 31-year-old right arm pacer has played 97 tests and bagged 297 wickets at an average of 32.39. Ishant has just under three wickets to join the 300 wicket club in Test cricket.

He has played 80 ODIs and scalped 115 wickets at an average of 30.98.

“I sincerely thank the (sports) ministry for this recognition. Finally, a huge shout out to BCCI for giving monumental support in this journey and the journey moving forward. Not to mention, congratulations to all fellow Arjuna Awardees,” he said. he added.

Ishant is with his Delhi Capitals teammates for the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), scheduled to take place September 19 in the UAE.

Earlier today, for the first time in National Sports Awards history, President Ram Nath Kovind virtually presented the 2020 National Sports and Adventure Award on Saturday.


Kovind presented the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, Arjuna Award, Dronacharya Award, Dhyan Chand Award, Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award and Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puraskar.

A record 74 athletes from the country were honored during the 115th birthday of hockey wizard Major Dhyan Chand.
