Joe Biden’s “reminder” after a negative Covid test

Joe Biden tested negative for Covid-19.

Wilmington, United States:

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden said Friday he had a negative test for Covid-19 three days after his debate with Donald Trump, who contracted the disease.

“I’m happy to report that Jill and I have tested negative for Covid,” said Biden. “I hope this serves as a reminder: wear a mask, keep your social distance, and wash your hands.”

Minutes earlier, his doctor Kevin O’Connor issued a negative result statement through the 77-year-old former vice president’s campaign.

“Vice President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden had a PCR test for Covid-19 today and no Covid-19 was detected,” O’Connor said.

Trump’s positive diagnosis, announced in the early hours of Friday after one of his senior staff members, Hope Hicks, tested positive, rocked the White House race a month to go.

Biden had previously wished his 74-year-old opponent and his wife Melania a speedy recovery from Covid-19.

“Jill and I send our thoughts to President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for a speedy recovery,” Biden tweeted.
