Kapil Dev extends Diwali greetings, thank fans for their wishes

Former India World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev, who underwent angioplasty last month, greeted fans on the occasion of Diwali on Friday, saying he is healthy and his heart is working well. Kapil was hospitalized on October 23 after complaining of chest pain. He then underwent angioplasty and was discharged on October 25.


“Happy Deepawali to everyone and I hope this year will bring everyone a lot of happiness. Thank you for your wishes. I am healthy and happy. The heart is working well, but I want to wish everyone a lot of luck around the world,” Kapil Dev said in a video posted to his official Twitter account.

On Thursday, the former cricket player shared a video in which he played golf with his friends.

Kapil played 131 Tests and 225 ODIs for the Indian cricket team. In the longest format of the game, the all-rounder scored 5248 points and took 434 wickets – a world record at the time.

Under his leadership, India lifted the 1983 World Cup after beating the mighty West Indies in the final.
