The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence has transferred the case of cricketer Krunal Pandya, who was intercepted at Mumbai International Airport for suspected possession of undisclosed gold and other valuables, to Airport Customs as the case was a one-off type , according to DRI officials on Friday.
Cricketer Krunal Pandya was stopped and luxury watches were found. The case, which was small by DRI standards and one-off type, was handed over to Customs Airport according to normal practice, DRI said.
Krunal was detained on suspicion of possessing undisclosed gold and other valuables when he returned from the UAE on Thursday evening.
Krunal recently played for Mumbai Indians in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in UAE. The Rohit Sharma-led squad won their fifth IPL title on Tuesday after beating Delhi Capitals in the final of the tournament.
The all-rounder played 71 games for Mumbai Indians in the IPL. He was the player of the match in the IPL 2017 final and had helped the Mumbai Indians defeat Rising Pune Supergiant to claim their third title.
