KXIP vs CSK, Kings XI Punjab vs Chennai Super Kings: Players to Watch Out For

In the second game on Sunday, two of the bottom teams in the IPL 2020 points table will compete against each other. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have had a tournament nightmare this year despite winning their opener against Mumbai Indians. With three back-to-back losses, CSK has dropped to last position. Kings XI Punjab are no better and having three defeats in four games means they are on the same points as CSK but have a better run rate. Incredibly, Punjab has the two best run-getters in Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul, as well as the joint top wicket-taker in Mohammed Shami, but despite their brilliant individual performance, they have failed to come together as a team.

Mayank Agarwal: The stylish right-hander is quite at the top of the points list with 246 runs in four games, seven runs ahead of teammate and skipper KL Rahul. Agarwal has been credited for a century and fifty and already stands at 166.21. He hopes to pass this form on to a substandard CSK team.

KL Rahul: The Kings XI Punjab captain has collected 239 runs in four games with an average of 79.66 and a strike rate of 148.44. Like Mayank Agarwal, KL Rahul has a century and a fifty, but despite all this, his team has only played one game so far this season.

Mohammed Shami: The India pacer was exceptional with the new ball and that has seen him take eight wickets in four games at an economic rate of 7.86. Up front, Shami was hard to get away, but he will have to improve his death bowling, just like the rest of the KXIP bowlers, which has cost the team dear.

Faf du Plessis: The South African was the bright spot in what has been a terrible battle performance for CSK this season. While others around him didn’t get going, Du Plessis was exceptional. The South African veteran has 195 runs in four games, putting him behind only Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul in the top runner list.

MS Dhoni: Despite all the criticism that has come his way for his slow start, CSK captain MS Dhoni is the second highest runner for his team this season. Dhoni has scored 91 points in four games and has been rejected only once, 135.82. The former Indian captain struggled with the heat in the previous game, but the more time he spends on the crease, both his fitness and hitting power will continue to improve.

Deepak Chahar: The fast bowler has not been at his best economically, but he has taken five wickets in four games. Along with Sam Curran and Piyush Chawla, he is currently the highest wicket taker on the team. After missing some of the pre-tournament training sessions after testing positive for COVID-19, the right arm fast bowler is slowly but surely coming to his best.
