GossipMantri.com – Wall Street stocks ended lower in another volatile session on Friday, after US President Donald Trump’s positive test for COVID-19 scared investors and added to growing uncertainties surrounding the election imminent.

The closed 134 points, or about 0.5%, fell to 27,682, after falling 430 points earlier in the session.

Down around 1% to 3,248 after falling 1.7% to session low. The fell 2.2% to close at 11,075.

Despite Friday’s losses, the Dow and the S&P 500 respectively recorded their first weekly gains in five weeks. The Dow Jones climbed 1.9% over the week while the S&P 500 rose 1.5% over the same period.

The Nasdaq Composite meanwhile enjoyed its second consecutive weekly gain, up 1.5%.

US stocks may face more volatility next week, with investors focusing on the potential impact of the November 3 election.

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden maintained his lead in the polls after the first debate earlier this week, but the timing of subsequent debates is now in question.

Election uncertainty, including the possibility of a delay in announcing a winner, has weighed on market sentiment in recent weeks, with the S&P 500 currently down nearly 7% per compared to its record last month.
