With the Indian Premier League (IPL) kicking off on September 19, it looks like Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) has picked up their training intensity, as shown by recent social media reports. KXIP posted a video of a training session between Mohammed Shami and Chris Gayle in the nets. The video was captioned as: “Pace Battery vs. #GayleStorm #SaddaPunjab # Dream11IPL @ MdShami11 @henrygayle”. The video shows the Indian pacemaker Shami sending one of his supplies to Gayle in the nets, where the Windies casually defend it.

Gayle also appears to be in good spirits for Sept. 19, as suggested by KXIP’s recent Twitter posts from the batsman. Last season Gayle played in 13 games, scoring 490 points. He also recorded a high score of 99 points in the 2019 IPL edition. In total he hit 45 fours and also 34 sixes. His success rate was 151.02, with an average of 41.13.
Shami played in 14 games, bowling for a total of 324 deliveries and giving up 469 runs. He also scored 19 wickets. Meanwhile, Shami registered an economy of 8.99.
KXIP is currently striving for a good tournament in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). During the 2019 edition, the team did not qualify for the play-offs. They recorded 12 points with six wins in 14 games.
Led by KL Rahul, KXIP will play their first match against Delhi Capitals on September 20th. The franchise-based T20 competition has moved out of India this year due to the increasing COVID-19 business.
