Former Indian Test batsman Wasim Jaffer praised South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada after the fast bowler became the third fastest South African bowler to reach 200 Test wickets. Rabada became not only the eighth South African to scalpe 200 Test wickets, but also the fourth youngest bowler to ever hit the milestone in the game’s longest format. Currently, Rabada has the best strike rate among bowlers with 200-plus Test wickets.
Jaffer said that looking at Rabada’s age (25), it’s scary to think about what the fast bowler can accomplish in the years to come.
“Congratulations @ KagisoRabada25 on 200 test wickets. That too with the best hitting percentage of some of the legends in the game. That’s an achievement. And he’s only 25! Terrifying to think about what he can accomplish! will be the battle of this decade, ”Jaffer tweeted.
On day three, South African hitters Aiden Markram and Rassie van der Dussen showed tenacity and determination to hit 74 and 64 respectively, but three wickets in the last half hour gave Pakistan a lead in the first Test at the National Stadium in Karachi.
South Africa was 187/4 in stumps, 29 points ahead of Pakistan. Keshav Maharaj and Quinton de Kock remained unbeaten at 2 and 0 respectively.
After a 158 lead, South Africa had hoped the batsmen would show some guts, which is exactly what happened as the top order was not in the mood to concede.
However, the last half hour changed Pakistan’s fate as they took three fast wickets – Markram, van der Dussen and Faf du Plessis (10) – to get right back into the game.
